Default Problem unlocking X8 with new bootloader [Solved]

    Hi.

    Phone: SE Xperia X8 11w44
Soft: Omnius for SE v0.35 (beta)

I bought Omnius Android Single Unlock License, with the purpose to unlock the bootloader.

First I tried the option to unlock without TP, that it seemed to work fine, but the result was a brick.
Totally dead phone that I ressurected via JTAG box.

Then I had a hard time making Uart cables, and trying to make it work via usb cable and test-point beneath the battery.
(following the sticky about xpereia testpoint in this forum)
But finally soldered a cable to TP point and used this to ground after the battery
was connected, not messing around with the usb cable, that worked.

It seemed fine, semc changed to brown, but the result was a dead phone again, I tried other options like repair s1-boot.
But no more credit. So had to jtag the phone back to life, but still locked bootloader.

Any input why it did not work, what to do?

Sounds really strange.. if the TP-unlock works for you, it means that the phone has the old security (what is unusual for 11w44)

But in general, if the procedure pass, it should work.

What are the exact symptoms of that the phone is "dead"? ... can you try to do identify via USB, when the phone is dead?

regarding the credit problem - give me your username

    Thank you for your answer.

I thought the TP-unlock was for phones with the new security?

The symptoms was like trying to unlock the bootloader without TP, seemed totally "dead", tryed to take out the battery etc, but no power on, or power lights. However I could try again, could be something went wrong, and this time try to identify it via USB and so if it "dies" again.

regarding credits - I checked, and you have a used licence. If you perform same operation with same phone within some period (week or two), it should work, so you can try first. If any problems, ask to get an extra one, in this case.

    Tried again.
The phone is "dead" again. Meaning cannot power it on, no lights on it no matter what I do.
The computer and or Omnius cannot see it with usb cable. Omnius sees it with UART, tried repair S1 boot, but needs credit.

First I tried UART and TP with usb cable connected, that did not work, had to only use the battery. I quess this is the right way according to the Omnius program guide.

Could it be that I do not not attach the test-point properly ?

Maybe my phone is just not compatible because it has been previously resurrected by JTAG (riffbox) ?

Yes, I would like an extra one because I get "no suitable license".

i gave you another licence... anyway, there is a free promo during Easter now, so you can use it unlimited

Then, please try to use Boot repair, if the phone revives or not.

Even if not wokring, please do the JTAG revival, then make a full TA backup from the phone and post here (or send me PM). Also if you made some older backups, please attach the oldest one, too. During unlock, a partial backup is created, with filename containing something like "simlock"

    Success.
Just wanted to report that I have unlocked the bootloader. What I did was to revert the Jtag recovery, and just unlock network lock via TP.
So I can verify that x8 owners that have hard-bricked their phones trying to unlock their new bootloader, can unlock the bootloader and bring it back to life with omnius.
I could not flash custom kernels with flashtool, but could with omnius, so does that mean that if I want to flash a new kernel in the future I need to do it with omnius and must have credit for that, yes?

No, you must have Omnius 1 day license, that is cheapest way if you need only flashing.

You can check it here http://omnius-server.com/full_featurelist

You need a usb to uart, like USB 2.0 to TTL UART CP2102, if you dont have one search on ebay.
Plug it in and install appropriate drivers.

You dont need your phone connected for this:
Choose X8 in Omnius and select unlock network lock via TP, then you will see a picture how to solder the wires.
(Unlock network lock via TP will also write S1 boot and therefore repair your phone)
Solder 3 wires from your uart adapter to the phone motherboard, RX wire from uart goes to point number 7, TX from uart to nr 6 and GND to nr 8. + Solder a singel "loose" wire on to point 4 (TP), that wire would later be used to make the test-point connection.
These wires must be rather thin, because you need to gently insert the battery while the wires is still solder on to your phones motherboard.

    Then you should be ready.
Start Omnius, choose X8 and unlock network lock via TP, and just follow the guide there:
Plug in the uart to usb adapter in your computer. (you should see the adapter in the left panel)
Attach the battery, and take the free end of the loose TP wire and hold it against the metall shielding over the simcard place, while you do this, use your other hand and press on the phones powerbutton one time. Release the TP cable and click on activate text next to the adapter in the left panel.
Then Omnius should do the rest.

Yes, once you have unlocked the bootloader with Omnius, you can use "unsigned flashing" for free. Make sure to check the box "unsigned" in the flash settings

So I can verify that x8 owners that have hard-bricked their phones trying to unlock their new bootloader, can unlock the bootloader and bring it back to life with omnius.
Please describe here exactly what you did previously (what lead to a dead/bricked phone) and what you did later to recover it, so we can reproduce the issue and fix it somehow.
From your previous post, there is no apparent difference, because you performed a network unlock in all the cases.

I attach some of the backup files you asked for in a previous post, i did not read your post properly before now so Im not sure that I have the right files, but I do think one of the TA backup files is when the phone was in working state, repaired with jtag. The other is after Omnius.

What I did first was Unlock bootloader, that bricked the phone, then I repaired the phone with riffbox jtag. (this was expected since it has the new semc bot, but I just wanted to try)
Next I tried network unlock via TP, that also bricked the phone.
Then I repaired the phone with jtag again, but I wondered if the jtag repair made the phone uncompatible with Omnius and it somehow was the reason for the brick via TP. So with the jtag tool I flashed back my first jtag backup, so the phone was now in a bricked state. (because of a previous attemt to unlock the bootloader by cable)
Then the unlock network by TP worked fine, and the phone was working with an unlocked bootloader.
What Im trying to say is that I suspect the jtag recovery made my phone uncompatible with Omnius.

    i analyzed your samples:
Xperia X8_35927104098765_20120405140627_TANormal_TAMisc.o pd - fake HWCongif signature
Xperia X8_35927104098765_20120409122145_TANormal_TAMisc.o pd - original semc HWCongif signature

Have you checked some option (or whatever) in riffbox sw to "rebuild imei"?

Caution: Omnius unlock does NOT work with a fake-signed HWConfig

So, seems that was the problem, riff sw made it incompatible with our boot. But even though i would expect the phone is able to boot at least in the service mode (inserting cable while holding back-key), strange.

I bought uart to usb component, then soldered like shown on the forum(connection not established),then soldered like shown in the omnius ,connection not established too.

What should i do,could it be that my battery is dead, because ,maybe a month ago it had 50 %.
